Leather Cleaning

Our leather technicians recommend that once a week you dust or vacuum your leather furniture with the vacuum cleaner brush attachment to remove dry crumbs, dust and grit.

Then wipe with a damp dyefast cloth to remove any light soiling.

Please note that you should always vacuum first, or the dampness from the cloth, mixed with dust, can combine to form a film that will clog the pores of the leather, preventing it from breathing.

Applying Colourlock Leather Cleaner:

Every 3 months your leather will need a thorough clean (even if doesn't look like it does).

  1. Vacuum your leather furniture with the vacuum cleaner brush attachment.
  2. Using your Colourlock Leather Cleaner on any clean, soft dyefast cloth, give the leather a good wipe over. Our leather technicians suggest that you clean only one panel or ½ a square meter at a time. Areas of greater use ie. Headrest, arms and seat, may be cleaned with a soft bristled brush to loosen up the build-up of general soiling, body oils, perspiration and other marks.
  3. Wipe off excess moisture with a clean towel

After cleaning always apply Colourlock Fadeguard Leather Conditioner

Leather Conditioning

Fadegard Leather Conditioner is a lotion with a range of ultraviolet filters, in conjunction with synthetic conditioning and moisturising agents. With regular use, the suppleness of leathers is retained, fading of colour is significantly reduced and damage due to surface friction is minimised.

Applying Colourlock Fadegard Leather Conditioner:

  1. Simply pour a small amount of Fadegard Leather Conditioner onto a dye fast cloth and wipe over the leather furniture.
  2. Leave for approx 30 mins to enable the Fadegard Leather Conditioner to soak into the leather surface, releasing the conditioning agents while leaving the ultraviolet filters on the surface.
  3. If a white residue remains on the surface of the leather, use a clean damp cloth to remove excess conditioner.

Recommended usage;

Our leather technicians recommend that you use Fadegard Leather Conditioner on your leather furniture every 3 months. Common sense should prevail-Lounge suites that have heavy usage, will require more regular servicing than suites that have light usage.

Leather furniture exposed to prolonged sun will require more frequent applications of Fadegard on exposed panels.
